As I sit with my kids at dinner and watch how little they eat I wonder how can I get them to feel this abundance too? I know part of them not wanting to sit and eat is because they just want to play, but they are boys! Aren't they supposed to be scarfing down food faster than I can make it? Perhaps someday. I give them the same old mantra my parents used to say, "There are starving kids in this world. You have so much! You have abundance in food and toys." I say it not to guilt them into eating or taking better care of their toys, but with compassion that they may just grasp how much they do have!
Every night we praise God for just who He is and then we thank Him for all He provides for us. I pray that my children will have a compassionate and giving heart. For them to grasp and understand that Christmas is about the birth of our Savior! He is the most perfect gift of all!
"For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16
The joy of the season comes from giving to others. So, I am trying to find some ways in our neighborhood where we can minister to others this Christmas season as a family.
How do you encourage a giving heart to your children? In what ways do you help others? I would love to hear from you! Leave a comment or link up a post from your blog!
Have a blessed day!
