Five Minute Friday: Beyond

July 27, 2012

Yeah! So happy it is Friday, one of my favorite days of the week! I haven't participated in a 5 Minute Friday in awhile, so this shall be fun!
Happy Friday everyone!

Here are the rules:
1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.
2. Link back to Gypsy Mama and invite others to join in.
3. Visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them in their comments.

Beyond...

Ready. Set. GO!

Beyond the noise and the mess

Beyond the shame and guilt

Beyond the regrets and what if’s

Beyond each trial and triumph

Beyond each new day and every blessing

Beyond each tear of joy and heartache

We have a God who loves us, forgives us and accepts us for who we are.

We are a result of His great works, we are fearfully and wonderfully made...in His image.

I will give thanks to Him all the days of my life.

STOP.

Now it's your turn!

Have a blessed day!

Hearts Connected

July 18, 2012

We have been neighbors for 30 plus years. Two families living side by side. Yet it wasn't until the recent death of her husband that our hearts somehow became connected.

Married for 64 years and now suddenly alone.

My heart mourns for her loss.

He was her first and only boyfriend, her best friend.

I could sit and talk with her for hours, listening to her stories of the past.

She needs to talk and I know that so I let her. I enjoy listening to her.

I think we don't have that much in common, yet I find out we do. Two women finding our way in this world.

Two mothers of sons. Hers are grown adults now, mine are still so young. She wears the experience and wisdom that I have yet to embrace.

She is a widow, I'm a single mom.

She isn't very mobile, so we help her by bringing in her mail and taking care of her garbage. We do this not because it is the right thing to do, but because it is what we want to do. It is what Jesus would do. To help and serve and love thy neighbor. To bless those in need around us instead of focusing on our own needs and agendas.

She talks. I listen.

I talk. She listens.

In some way, we need and help each other.

Our visits are brief most days since I am pulled back to work or a child calling. It fills me with joy to see her face light up when I walk through her door and I am humbled that God would use us to help her even if it is very small.

Have a blessed day!

His Endless Gifts: Healing

July 13, 2012

This post is part of the His Endless Gifts series. I would love for you to join me every week. If you haven't already, please subscribe so you don't miss out!
When I think of healing, I immediately think of all the healing miracles Jesus performed in The New Testament. I believe miracles like these are not a thing of the past, but available to us TODAY. There is so much to be said about the gift of healing it overwhelms me how awesome God is.

The very first time I read The New Testament I had a hard time understanding why Jesus would instruct the people he healed to keep quiet and not tell what He had done. I eventually came to understand He didn't want people to think of Him as a miracle worker. Jesus has so much compassion for his people He not only wanted to heal the physically sick, but the spiritually sick as well.

The gift of healing covers a multitude of areas. He wants us to be WHOLE in every part of our lives; physically, spiritually, mentally, emotionally and the list goes on! Just another reason to look at the cross! Jesus died to give us life. Not only eternal life, but as we walk this earth, our temporary home, He wants to bless us with joy and to live a life of prosperity and fullness and to be whole and complete in Him.

"But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed." Isaiah 53:5 NKJV

So, if you are in need of healing today, whether it be from chronic pain, a broken heart, addiction, or you may be spiritually lost, know you can call on the name of Jesus. I believe one very important thing to remember is no matter what we face our God is BIGGER than It.

Have faith in our awesome God, for nothing is impossible for Him! (Luke 1:37)

Praise God!
